How a pipe cleaner becomes a lily
One fuzzy stem
A pipe cleaner is a thin wire wrapped in soft fibre, the same chenille stem you remember from the school craft box. It bends any way you want and stays there.
Bent loop by loop
Each petal is bent back and forth by hand, row after row, until it is full, soft to the touch and holds its curve.
Petals, stamens, leaves
Six petals are twisted together around pearly stamens, then fixed to a green stem with its leaves.
Then it simply stays
No water, no wilting, no petals on the table. It stays on a desk or a shelf long after a fresh bouquet would be gone.
